The Curve | £22mSlough
The Curve is Slough Borough Council’s flagship scheme that has helped transform the town centre, and was the first project undertaken through Slough Urban Renewal.
This unique building features a library, community learning rooms, registrar services, a café, a 280-seater performance space and a garden area.
At 90 metres long and 15 metres high, The Curve creates a welcoming pedestrian link between William Street, through to Mackenzie Square, and creates two new urban squares at each end of the building, enriching the pedestrian route with places to pause and enjoy the building in its space.
I am proud to be able to be here at the opening of this amazing facility. For years the centre of Slough has suffered from a lack of cultural activities and the library has suffered from an aging building and dated technology. Now there is a new site, bringing so much more than just a library or just a theatre.

Arbour Park Football Stadium | £12.7mSlough
The creation of a new 1950 capacity stadium and state-of-the-art 3G pitch for Slough Town Football Club.
The scheme was delivered as part of a wider leisure redevelopment programme being undertaken by Slough Urban Renewal. Arbour Park is a key outcome in the council's five year £35million leisure strategy,
Arbour Park comprised a new stadium, entrance and stand building with changing rooms, clubroom, bar and a meeting suite. A new four court sports hall with changing facilities, synthetic 3G floodlit pitch, a new car park and remodelling of the adjacent school sports hall. The stadium won best non-league ground in 2017 as well as other national industry awards.
I've been in regeneration and specifically leisure for years, so to have this investment now is amazing. Seeing the quality of this facility I'm so excited about the other facilities going forward! We went for a high spec on the pitch and it's really paid off! It's fantastic!

Orion Academy | £12mOxforfordshire
The project included construction of a new 104‑place SEND school in Oxford, creating a modern 2,700 sqm single‑storey facility designed to enhance specialist learning.
The school includes 14 classrooms, dedicated science, art, music and design spaces, and a life‑skills suite supporting pupils’ independence. Central to the building is The Bridge, a flexible therapeutic and social hub for group and individual support.
To ensure continuity of learning, the project was completed through a tandem build approach, allowing teaching to continue in the existing school while the new academy was constructed on an adjacent site.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this exciting project. It’s been a huge effort to deliver it on time despite the pandemic. There has been great teamwork behind the shared goal of building this specialist learning environment.

Old Library Site | £51mSlough
The construction of two new Marriott Hotel brands (Moxy and Residences Inn) at the heart of Slough.
Located on the site of the former library, the scheme was driven by the lack of quality, modern, short and long stay hotels within Slough; there was a need for a centrally located high brand hotel that could offer a mix of short and long term accommodation as well as address the requirement for new build residential accommodation to improve the city centre.
The project developed into the construction of two new Marriott hotels, as well as 64 apartments and 4,000sqft of restaurant and retail space along with off site parking, right at the heart of Slough town centre. The project is being delivered under the Slough Urban Renewal (SUR).
Several months ahead (!) of schedule, I was extremely proud to accept the practical completion. We couldn’t be more proud of the partnership that has delivered this high quality project. Whilst it is cheesy, teamwork does really make the dream work.

Minet Infant & Junior School | £24mHayes, Hillingdon
As part of the Department of Education’s (DFE) Priority Schools Building Programme (PSBP), Minet Infant and Junior school was one of several schools identified to be bought up to modern standards.
Our project team and client were aligned with one vision - to sustainably restore the school back to modern standards. Where it was possible to do so, the project team reused brickwork from the demolition of the existing buildings; the team also reduced the usage of steel on the project. Overall, this generated a carbon saving of 26.5T. Overall, 47.7T of carbon was saved throughout the project.
Overall, the project generated over £17.5 million in Social Value. This was achieved by facilitating site visits for engineering and IT students, along with numerous charitable initiatives.
Morgan Sindall delivered an excellent customer service to the DfE, Mace and both schools - they're always committed and deliver what they say. Excellent communication!

Clive Booth Student Village | £70mOxford
The first phase of the Clive Booth learning village includes four purpose built student accommodation blocks; each comprising of 8-10 bedrooms, a shared kitchen, extensive storage and open communal areas. Overall, 342 bedrooms have been provided, with each room fit out with double beds.
The new accommodation is close to the University’s main campus, a short 20-minute walk from the city centre. Part of the difficulties faced on the project was the location, particularly, working within a busy student environment. Along with communication with all parties, a robust traffic management plan was developed during the pre-construction phase. Cranes were also opted for on site, to aid material movement.
Morgan Sindall are transparent and collaborative at all levels; they're so great to deal with. They delivered 98 of the rooms ahead of time to gain us 6 months extra revenue. If you are shortlisting MS, reach out to me and I'll tell you why I'd take them on again!

UoO Reuben College | £39.5mOxford
The project required major restoration and remodelling of three Grade II listed buildings on the university’s campus. In short, the aspiration was to restore these three key iconic buildings back to their best.
Reuben College combines old and new with a vision of creating a new legacy in Oxford for years to come. It was part of the client requirements for the project team to preserve the heritage features of the building, although, this was generally challenging due to the asbestos concerns in the background. Specialist products, collaboration, and unique ways in which to remove the asbestos was fundamental.
The project has contributed significantly to the general community, generating over £31m in social value.
Morgan Sindall Construction impressed us from the start with their enthusiasm and commitment to the vision underpinning this project.

The project has already achieved strong sustainability outcomes, including saving over 450 tonnes of carbon (to date) along with planned PV installation. Reuse of existing site infrastructure further improved efficiency and reduced waste.
Social value has also been embedded throughout, with support for local initiatives, apprenticeships, and teacher engagement.
This is going to be a great facility for Reading residents.
