Meet Brad, Lucie, Hollie and Frazer.

In 2019, as budding apprentices, the four agreed to record their journeys from day one, in the hope that they'd inspire other young people to explore our exciting industry.

Since then, 114 new apprentices have joined our business, enjoying an exciting career in an industry where they can truly make a difference.

Just over three years on, we caught up with the four to reflect on the journey so far, and their hopes for the future and beyond…

| LUCIE

Before joining the apprenticeship programme in 2019, Lucie joined us for two weeks work experience whilst in her final year of school. She is now studying for her construction management degree and chose the ‘site management’ pathway after her rotation. Lucie has even relocated and is now running her own site in our Yorkshire North East business.

I can't recommend an apprenticeship enough. It‘s a nice growth environment and you’re coming out of your degree with no debt and five years experience - everyone wants to see you grow and thrive!

| FRAZER

Frazer joined the business on an apprenticeship, specifically hoping to become a quantity surveyor - mainly because it was maths that he was keen on at school. However, after undertaking the rotation programme, which enabled him to spend time in all the other roles, he chose to change to an estimator, where he's still thriving today!

It allows you to gain the experience you need to do the job. I wanted to get hands on straight away and start earning my own money, and an apprenticeship allowed me to do that.

Frazer Lemmon

| HOLLIE

Hollie joined our Cambridgeshire business as an apprentice site manager, and whilst she enjoyed the rotation scheme, is still set on working on site and project management. She has already worked on hospital, University and Life Science projects and last year Hollie won the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Apprentice Ambassador Award, selected by the local authorities.

Anyone that can possibly do it, an apprenticeship is the way to go. It's so beneficial - you're not just getting a degree from it, which is paid for, you;re also getting paid to do it. It's amazing!

Brad entered our apprenticeship programme as a quantity surveyor - meaning that he could apply his maths to help manage the costs on our projects. Since joining he's worked on such a variety of projects, including an award winning SEND school in Ipswich. After going through the rotation scheme, he's still very much a QS, but cites it as a vital aspect of developing his role.

No day is the same, every day is different. You're building projects that are changing people's lives, you're working with people of different diversity and it's life changing impact on the people who are using these facilities. It make you proud.
