DATE: WORK EXPERIENCE AND INDUSTRY PLACEMENT SPOTLIGHT Ark Walworth Work Experience Monday 16 th of February – Wednesday 18 th of February We supported two students from Ark Walworth Academy by providing work experience placements on the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre project. Each student had the opportunity to shadow a member of our team and gain insight into different areas of construction. One student shadowed our Site Manager, learning about health and safety procedures, daily site operations, and what it takes to run a live construction site. The second student spent their placement with our Quantity Surveyor, gaining exposure to the commercial side of construction and the responsibilities involved in managing project costs and contracts. DATE: COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT Recycling Arts and Craft Workshop Monday 16 th of February We partnered up with Encore Environment to deliver an all - day Recycling Arts & Crafts workshop at Crystal Palace NSC. Over 60 children and young people took part in the activity, creating items using recycled materials. As it was Chinese New Year, we encouraged participants to create dragons, lanterns etc using recycled items. It was a great day and we had Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) in attendance to capture the fun. February 2026
DATE: COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT Southwark College Wednesday 11 th of February We delivered a Live Project Brief to seven T - Level Digital Media students, an exciting step beyond our usual work with construction learners, to support them in completing their 70 - hour employer placement through an off - site industrial placement with us. This community - focused brief enables the students to contribute to the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre project in a unique way. They will carry out in - depth historical research into the iconic venue and use their findings to design a logo that honours the centre’s original identity while introducing a fresh, creative perspective. Once the students have completed their placement hours, we will return to hear them present their research and explain how it informed their design concepts. This initiative demonstrates how students from diverse learning pathways can gain meaningful industry experience and apply their skills to a nationally significant redevelopment. Their final designs will be showcased on a collage board displayed at the National Sports Centre, celebrating creativity, collaboration, and inclusion. February 2026
EDUCATION SPOTLIGHT DATE: Friday 6 th of February We supported a Career Networking session at Sydenham School. A year 10 - year class asked a range of effective networking questions to volunteers as a way of practicing on employers. DATE: EMPLOYABILITY SPOTLIGHT Lewisham Careers Fair Friday 6 th of February It was great to support Lewisham Careers Fair at the Lewisham Civic Suite, hosted by Lewisham Works in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout, with hundreds of attendees and even a queue forming outside the venue — a real reflection of the demand for careers, opportunities, and pathways into employment across the borough. February 2026 There was huge interest in careers and job opportunities in construction, and it was a pleasure to speak with so many people about the upcoming Crystal Palace National Sports Centre redevelopment and the opportunities it will bring.
DATE: EMPLOYABILITY SPOTLIGHT Barnardo’s – Employer Insight Talk to NEETs Monday 2 nd of February We visited a group of NEET young people on a construction study programme, part of Barnardo’s Building Hope Academy, based in Crystal Palace, South London. The Academy delivers construction skills programme for 16 – 18 - year - olds who are not in education, employment or training. The 12 young people, all aspiring to work in construction, heard from me about the Morgan Sindall Construction business and the redevelopment of Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. We discussed career pathways, the value of work experience and CSCS cards. Whilst on the programme, students gain hands - on skills in Barnardo’s construction workshop – an amazing set - up for learning practical skills. We are now exploring the possibility of bringing the study programme students on board to co - design a practical design and build project for the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre project. Monday 2nd of February We spent the morning at Thornton Heath Job Centre to pre - interview those candidates interested in the Apprentice Quantity Surveying vacancy, which we are recruiting for the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre project. The candidates were initially selected and screened by JCP and we carried out further screening to put candidates forward to our Commercial team for consideration for interview.
