DATE: EMPLOYABILITY SPOTLIGHT Building Future Skills with Construction Youth Trust Tuesday 24 th – Thursday 26 th March We welcomed 34 Construction Youth Trust students to Crystal Palace National Sports Centre for a three - day Building Future Skills programme. During the programme, students were challenged to reimagine the Jubilee Stadium and present their proposals to a panel of judges, outlining why their design should be selected. Working in groups, they adopted industry roles such as project manager, quantity surveyor, sustainability advisor, design manager, social value manager, and more, exploring how each role influenced decision making throughout the project. To support their final presentations, the students took part in a series of interactive sessions with members of the Morgan Sindall team at different stages of their careers. These sessions provided valuable insight, opportunities to ask questions, and helped build confidence when engaging with construction professionals. A special thank you to Shona for guest judging the presentations. All teams delivered a fantastic and thorough body of work, particularly impressive given the limited time available to prepare. EDUCATION SPOTLIGHT DATE: Rockmount Primary STEM Fair Tuesday 10 th of March We attended Rockmount Primary Schools STEM fair, acting as their business representative and talking about construction and STEM careers in the industry to students and parents, with students from all their year groups in attendance. The younger students coloured in site safety sheets, teaching them about PPE and how to be safe on site, and we talked about how important construction is to support everyone, from the roads we drive on, the schools we learn in and the houses we live in. This way we were able to open their eyes into how the built environment fits into the world of STEM, from the chemistry of mixing concrete to make it strong, the engineering of keeping our roofs up and stable in bad weather, the ecology of checking that a upcoming site is suitable and not disruptive to endanger species, and the maths that goes into buying materials to build our projects and pay our supply chain. Rockmount also had the students recycled sculptures on display, from when we visited with encore environment. They were able to make some incredible nature inspired sculptures and one student even built an impressive recycled model of the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. The next task is to give our team on the project the difficult role of judging their wonderful sustainable sculptures and deciding a winner. Thanks to Rockmount Primary for having us along and allowing us to speak with and inspire your delightful students. March 2026

DATE: EMPLOYABILITY SPOTLIGHT Sedgehill Academy – Mock Interviews with CYT Tuesday 3rd of March We supported KS5 students from Sedgehill Academy by conducting mock interviews as part of a Construction Youth Trust initiative. These pre - employment sessions are designed to help students build confidence and gain valuable experience before entering the world of work. During the session all the students had the opportunity to be interviewed, each of whom demonstrated a strong grasp of effective interview techniques. They used the STAR method particularly well, and we were genuinely impressed by the quality and thoughtfulness of their responses. Each student was provided positive feedback along with a few pointers for improvement, but they all performed exceptionally well on the day, especially considering for many of them it was only their first or second interview with an external representative.
