We define the common 'green' terms we use to ensure transparency
We mean carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e), which is a unit of measurement that allows different greenhouse gases to be compared relative to one unit of CO2. This unit of measurement is typically used in carbon assessments and is sometimes expressed as Global Warming Potential (GWP).
The number of tonnes of carbon released over a given time period.
Material-related emissions over the entire lifecycle of the building
The carbon emitted in energy and water consumption over the lifecycle of the building
A term used to describe the combined embodied and operational carbon over the life of a building
Measures the relative energy efficiency of a building, measured by the amount of energy required to provide building services.
The total costs throughout the entire lifespan of a building, from construction to operation to disposal & distinct from lifecycle costing.
Means designing for reuse, minimising waste, and maximising resource efficiency.
An approach where developments leave biodiversity in a better state than before. It encourages developers to provide an increase in natural habitat and ecological features above the level of loss resulting from the project. The figure can be positive and negative.
