Verified claims
We engage reputable third parties to verify our processes and claims.
For our CarboniCa whole life carbon reports, we require two reviews to be carried out: one at RIBA Stage 4 at the latest, and another upon completion. The reviews are completed by an authorised person, such as a Morgan Sindall Engineering Solutions representative or another third-party consultant.
We engage our employees and other stakeholders around the importance of reducing whole life carbon with our 10 tonne challenge events. During these events project teams work with their clients, professional teams, and supply chains to find ways of reducing carbon on their projects by at least 10 tonnes.
Some projects engage a carbon specialist, such as KLH to support with carbon reductions and to validate their carbon savings generated from CarboniCa. Regional businesses then submit their outcomes to the national sustainability team, where these are verified before being published externally.
We take a deliberately conservative approach towards our carbon outcomes and always request clarification where required and under inflate claims or publish later unless we are certain of the outcome.
As part of the Morgan Sindall Group our science-based targets were revalidated in 2023 by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to align to a 1.5oC trajectory.
Additionally, as part of the Group, the Construction Division’s Scopes 1 and 2 and operational Scope 3 greenhouse gas data are externally verified by Achilles, who provide assurance services for our emissions data.
We commit to continually enhancing our transparency and making evidence publicly available and having those claims third party verified wherever possible.
