Manchester Cares community tea party

Working in collaboration with Hive Projects we sponsored a tea party social club hosted by local organisation, Manchester Cares.

The tea party took place at the Platt Fields Market Garden, where older and younger neighbours enjoyed some of the homegrown produce from their wonderful community garden to improve wellbeing.

A new ICU Garden for the hospital

With the help of our supply chain we have created a peaceful outdoor area which offers a space for families and friends to reflect while visiting their loved ones in the ICU.

Other contractors are now creating planters to make the area more green and welcoming, as shown in the sketch. Sub-contractor EM Brennan helped with groundworks whilst Beechwood provided a Christmas tree which can be decorated for years to come.

Donating white goods to charity

White goods which were salvaged from hospital buildings prior to demolition were donated to local charity the Mustard Tree.

We cleared out old hospital buildings for demolition, recycling white goods in good condition with permission from the hospital.

We collected three washing machines, two tumble dryers, three cookers, and four fridges which will be distributed to disadvantaged families by Mustard Tree.

£1,745 raised for Movember

By participating in Movember, our site team raised £1,745 and awareness for men’s mental health and prostate / testicular cancer.

The construction industry has the highest suicide rate of any other industry in the UK. Men working in construction are three times more likely to die by suicide than the national average for men.

This gave our site team the motivation to participate in this charity which involves us growing moustaches throughout the month of November

Manchester Youth Zone Xmas Appeal

Morgan Sindall & our Supply chain have donated a number of Christmas presents for the Manchester Youth Zone present appeal.

MYZ is a community group based in North Manchester for young people aged 8-19 (up to 25 with additional needs) to raise their aspirations and enjoy healthier, happier lives.

The Christmas presents were distributed to the local community, helping to reduce poverty and stress during the festive season.

Volunteering at The Bread & Butter Thing

Morgan Sindall volunteers helped to package and deliver fresh food and packed lunches to people in need across Greater Manchester.

Based at a warehouse in Trafford park, The Bread and Butter Thing is a charity that makes life more affordable for people on a low income.

Its mission is to create a fair solution for people in poverty and long-term aim is to address the premiums that people in poverty pay for food, loans, energy and other everyday essentials because of their personal circumstances.

Volunteering and donations at FC United

A significant initiative that has successfully contributed to crime reduction was a £10,000 project to improve the security at FC United’s training grounds.

Morgan Sindall was approached to undertake these works as part of its partnership with charity I Love Manchester. This project contributed to our 286 community volunteering hours.

End of project equipment donation

At project completion, the team donated excess office furniture to Revive, a local community project that supports refugees, asylum seekers and victims of domestic abuse.

The project team donated tables and chairs from the site office and Knowledge Quad which will be used for life skills and interview sessions, also white goods such as kettles and microwaves which will be used to furnish safe housing accommodation for their refugee hubs. The site shed was also donated to be used in Revive’s allotment.
