Our Approach to Net Zero
Our plans and key milestones for the East
Our business deploys intelligent solutions with the aim of decarbonising communities, working towards science-based targets to minimise whole life carbon emissions and meet the needs of our clients.
"Having worked in the construction industry for over 30 years, I am acutely aware that historically it takes time to facilitate change. Given the impact that the built environment has on global emissions, we are now at a point where we need to do be doing something different. This piece aims to evidence what we are doing and ensures that we have accountability for our actions and behaviours. We will collaborate with our clients and supply chain partners to ensure that our 2030 net zero aspiration to becomes a reality.”

By engaging with our clients in the early stages of the RIBA Plan of Work, we're able to maximise the carbon savings of a project over it's entire life cycle.
Our strategy is focused on reducing operational and asset-related embodied carbon (Scope 1 & 2), with specific emphasis on supporting our supply chain to effectively decrease indirect (Scope 3) emissions both upstream and downstream.
This will enable our business to reduce its reliance on non-renewable resources as part of our roadmap to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2030, whilst we support our value chain to achieve the same by 2045 - without carbon offsetting.
We were also re-awarded our CDP-A rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project, and achieved 'CHAMPION' level of compliance within the Carbon Reduction Code for the built environment (2022). This is the highest accreditation that recognises a commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
Science-based targets provide companies with a clearly defined path to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goals. The initiative identifies pathways for businesses to work towards in achieving net zero. You can view the technical summary here.
To earn a score of ‘A’ from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Morgan Sindall showed environmental leadership in disclosing action on climate change. This requires demonstrating best practice in strategy and action, as recognised by frameworks such as the TCFD, Accountability Framework and others.
