**OUR EXPERIENCE IN DELIVERING STUDENT ACCOMMODATION**
Creating a home-from-home for students is vital when helping them settle in to the next stage of their education.
From high rise blocks in urban city centres, to one-off exclusive town centre developments, these student accommodation projects come in all shapes and sizes.
So whether we are delivering a high rise building in record time, or sensitively restoring an existing property, we do this with the end users at the heart of our delivery.
This includes working in partnership with Universities, Colleges and private sector developers, often to maximise the use of small and unused parcels of land.
Our experience has included delivering high rise private sector developments in tight city centre locations, refurbishments of existing university stock, as well as the development of new accommodation on live education campuses.

VITA Student Accommodation | £25mNottingham
The design and construction of a city centre accommodation block with 321 en-suite bedrooms.
The 101,375 sq ft development benefits from excellent connectivity, being situated next to Nottingham train station. Sharing the same modern aesthetic of all Vita schemes, the building is split into three tiered towers of six, eight and ten storeys each, housing 321 apartments. Almost 6,000 sq ft has been designated as communal hub space for collaboration and socialising. There is also a coffee bar, separate study rooms and private, bookable lounge.
The project team set up their own dedicated project website to keep stakeholders updated on progress behind the hoardings.
It's testament to the strength of our relationship that in spite of the pandemic, we've delivered a place that continues to set the standards for the future student living experience by providing diverse, inspiring spaces in which students can succeed.

VITA Student Accommodation | £25mBirmingham
Construction of new 360-bed student accommodation block within touching distance of the University of Birmingham.
This high specification student block for VITA was delivered on the former BBC Pebble Mills site and now provides en-suite rooms throughout, gym, cafe, cinema room and social areas.
Constructed on a newly formed plateau partly installed under EA flood alleviation works, our customer required the team to deliver 357 rooms across the complex. However, through careful design management, 3D modelling and communication, the team were able to relocate the plant room onto the ground floor and then develop the vacant space to create three extra bedrooms for VITA to let out.
“It’s fantastic to open the doors to our first Vita Student scheme in Birmingham and to hear how much our customers are enjoying living with us. It’s an exceptional residence to add to our portfolio.

AUB Student Accommodation | £24mArts University Bournemouth
Arts University Bournemouth's new student halls development is creating a safe home-from-home for students.
The BREEAM Very Good scheme provides accommodation for more than 300 students.
Delivered across three large student blocks, the scheme compliments the campuses aesthetic, featuring 8-bed clusters with communal kitchens, dining areas, and a landscaped courtyard with more than 100 trees planted to maintain a green and natural environment for students.
Additionally, circular economy principles have resulted in 94% of waste diverted from landfill, with nearly 90% of construction work routed through 45 small to medium sized enterprises in the local area to encourage and demonstrate the effectiveness of local suppliers and contractors.
We are very pleased with the project, from its inception to handover, and the Halls perfectly complement our existing Campus buildings in scale, function and sustainability.

Pantycelyn Halls | £16.5mAberystwyth University, Wales
The refurbishment of a Grade II listed building to create 198 en-suite bedrooms.
Delivered through the SEWSCAP framework, the project's vision was to bring back to life one of the first buildings to be constructed on the site. The building was built in 1951 and was designed by Sir Percy Thomas - the site was even more restricted due to the surrounding gardens having a Grade II* listing.
As well as the heritage conservation, the team worked through several sever storm events, as it was located within 1.5 miles of the Irish Sea. They also set up a dedicated bilingual project website which included images, videos and updates. This also formed part of the careful logistics and liaison strategy working around the live campus.
“We are delighted to be bringing to life once more a hall that has been the focus for the Welsh culture at Aberystwyth University for almost half a century. This project represents an investment in the future of Welsh speaking students for generations to come.

All Saints Green Student Accommodation | £11mNorwich, Norfolk
Design and construction of a new 228 bed student accommodation block for Alumno Developments and Norwich University of the Arts.
Located right at the heart of Norwich city centre, the new steel frame construction is set across seven amalgamated blocks. In addition, the team also created public realm and refurbished a grade II listed building next door.
This BREEAM Very Good development required careful liaison with neighbours and the council, with next to no set-down areas on site for material storage.
The team worked closely with the University of the Arts to include students on tours and curriculum events, to help those on architectural courses learn about the design process on site.
We’re very pleased about how the project has been delivered on time. From the outset it was a difficult proposal, a challenging proposal – multifaceted. But it’s been hugely collaborative and has given us the momentum to do another project in Norwich."

Round Church Street | £10.5mCambridge
A brand new six storey student accommodation block in the centre of Cambridge for Trinity College.
Following the demolition of existing town houses and an extensive archaeological dig that uncovered the ‘kings ditch’ and Roman remains, this constrained city centre sight saw the construction of a new CLT frame that houses 39 en-suite bedrooms and six flats along with communal kitchen and social areas.
Delivered in 11 truckloads, the CLT frame was lifted into position and bolted together by just six workers. This project was carried out in parallel with a separate contract next door, to completely overhaul the Cambridge Union Society - one of the oldest debating chambers in the world.
The standards of quality of finish in this new student accommodation are first class.

Student Accommodation Blocks | £9.9mNewman University, Birmingham
Design and construction of a new two winged student accommodation block with 108 en-suite rooms.
Delivered through the CWM framework, the student accommodation project involved the construction of a new five storey block on a live education campus, as well as the refurbishment of teaching and lecture theatre spaces in adjacent buildings.
Student engagement was a golden thread throughout the contract and the team held numerous curriculum and STEM related activities for primary and secondary schools, as well as working with the University students in design workshops to help shape the layout and colour themes in the accommodation facilities.
The team have gelled so well within the Newman community - it’s been collaboration throughout. They were about what was best for the University. They always asked what’s best for us, the students and the student experience.

Maclay Residences | £2.5mGlasgow, Scotland
Maclay Residences is a contemporary accommodation facility for postgraduate students studying at the prestigious University of Glasgow.
Phase 1 was carried out in 2021, and involved the refurbishment of 58 bedrooms and associated en suites, and 14 communal kitchen and seating areas.
Phase 2 was carried out in 2022, and involved the refurbishment of 150 bedrooms and associated en suites, and 32 communal kitchen and seating areas.
To ensure that as little as possible of the replaced furniture and fittings went to landfill, the team developed a comprehensive Circular Economy strategy helping 190 households source reusable items, saving those households an estimate of £35k and amounting to around 3125kg of CO2 savings.
The team worked exceptionally well with the design team at AECOM and Alpha in delivering the project on time and on budget under the restricted delivery window of the student summer break.

Darley Bank & Peak Court Refurb | £1.9mDerby
Students at the University of Derby are now enjoying improved facilities at two of its accommodation buildings following their refurbishment.
In total, 117 bedrooms, 22 kitchens and all associated communal areas were completely renovated over a tight eight week schedule. The work not only completed on time, but also on budget, whilst achieving a 10/10 satisfaction score.
Procured through the SCAPE framework, 67.8% of labour was based within 20 miles of the project, while 88.3% of the project spend was with SME businesses in the local area. Four Social Enterprises were appointed on the project, and a food bank and Harvest breakfast was organised for those in need.
We were impressed with the way that Morgan Sindall delivered this on time and on budget, despite the tight schedule. It’s also good to see the social value of this project supporting our local businesses, social enterprises, and communities.
