**HOW WE DO IT**
Responsible Business, Intelligent Solutions and Perfect Delivery

Building on our five total commitments we've developed a Responsible Business Plan to define how we put these commitments in to place.
Our objectives are aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and because of this, our key objectives are often the key drivers for our customers and stakeholders too. The outcomes from the plan will feed directly into positive sustainability and social value achievements in the communities we work.
Our five total commitments:
Bringing together digital and platform design capabilities with modern construction methods and innovative carbon reduction tools to create unique, sustainable and inspiring places for our customers. Click on the short animation and digital brochure below to find out more.
This digital brochure explains our Intelligent Solutions approach and provides a number of case studies to show this in action.

Perfect Delivery at our South Essex College project
Creating sought-after experiences
At Morgan Sindall, Perfect Delivery is a philosophy which provides a common set of principles that apply to everything we do.
It began life almost 20 years ago and has been developing year on year to provide the best outcomes for our customers.
Perfect Delivery defines five customer commitments, split into two sections; delivering the product, and exceptional experiences (click below to expand).
In addition to defining a unique charter of objectives for your project, each customer commitment is measured during pre-construction, construction, handover and during the customer care phase, to ensure we are delivering sought-after experiences.
The Just Transition is a globally-recognised concept that looks to ensure that the move to a low-carbon and sustainable economy is fair and inclusive.
It calls for proactive measures to assess and minimise the risks to people and communities, and to maximise the opportunities a low-carbon world can bring. It requires meaningful and long-term participation between stakeholders, including workers, communities, suppliers, consumers, governments, and businesses.

To respond to our customers’ current and future concerns around the effect our industry’s decarbonisation efforts has on people and communities. We will establish and seed-fund regional projects which bring together and organise multiple stakeholders in a single geographic area to progress a ‘just’ (fair and inclusive) transition to net zero.
Our ambition for the built environment is that these projects will develop and support local, future-proofed supply chains who draw their talent from – and thereby improve the wellbeing of – disadvantaged groups and communities.
Absolutely Imperative
It's part of the journey
Unimportant
Underpinning our Decarbonising Communities strategy is CarboniCa, an innovative carbon calculation tool.
This allows project teams to work with customers to estimate, manage and reduce whole life carbon emissions through the design, construction and entire lifecycle of an asset.
It is amongst the most sophisticated and complete tools that I have seen, which nicely balances complexity and simplicity for most use cases.
The easy to use tool has been externally validated by Arup to the latest industry standards and is flexible to allow for the different project types being undertaken.
Aligned to the UK Green Building Council framework for net zero buildings and the aims of the Construction Playbook, it will help upskill and empower clients to make environmentally friendly decisions based on meaningful and robust data.
Easy to use, no expertise needed
Robust with clear logic and method
Certified by numerous third parties
Customisable to your project
On every project, we promise to plan for, deliver and measure the social value investment a project creates.
At the beginning of your scheme, our social value manager will support our project teams with a social value toolkit, starting with the collaborative development of a social value charter for the project.
Upon completion, social value is monetised by using Morgan Sindall Group's Social Value Bank. This gives each customer a detailed report evidencing the outcomes from the project.

Working in partnership with the Blenheim Estate and in conjunction with Grown in Britain we are creating nine new woodlands, planting more than a quarter of a million trees to transform land as part of an ambitious series of sustainability initiatives.
This project is the first scheme planted under the Forest Canopy Foundation (FCF) - a not-for-profit committed to demonstrating technical rigour and quality in woodland creation.
Far from a quick win, this will be a legacy project which, while it will have immediate impact in terms of biodiversity, soil erosion prevention and cleaner water, will sequester 22,000 tonnes of carbon across a quarter of a century.
270,000 trees
22,000 tons carbon sequestered
138 hectares, 9 woodlands
25 year commitment
15.5km public footpath
1 forest school
1 world heritage site
Our investment with the RSPB will enable them to buy ploughed fields the size of 81 football pitches and convert those fields into a peat rich, biodiverse wetland. This land is next to their existing site at Lakenheath Fen on the Norfolk/Suffolk border and means they can extend the habitat they’ve already created for a range of birds, as well as protecting the peat in the soil and helping to reduce carbon emissions.
Having announced this project in February 2023, we're excited to share more very soon.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Morgan Sindall Group – with their support, we will be able to return a large section of land to nature, enabling endangered species to recover and also locking away carbon to help preserve our own future against the climate crisis. Lakenheath Fen is a very special place - it saw the first cranes fledge in the Fens for about 400 years, and we can’t wait to see what other wildlife comes to make it their home.
Being safe has always, and will always, be paramount to all of us.
It's critical that our people, and those affected by our activities, benefit from an incident free environment.
To ensure that we consistently deliver an incident free environment for all our stakeholders, we drive our processes through five pillars of 100% Safe.
Our five core pillars are:
Safe places
Safe by choice
Safe relationships
Safe by design
Safe lives

Imagine if every design, procurement and construction decision favoured a low carbon choice...
A landmark study, known as the Circular Twin, challenges existing design, procurement and construction practices to deliver low carbon buildings and help address the climate emergency.
Working with leading businesses from different disciplines in the built environment, the study involved digitally building a school that has already been completed and reworking the scheme from start to finish so that each decision favoured a lower carbon outcome.
Morgan Sindall Construction, SCAPE, HLM, Lungfish and Carbon discarded conventional industry approaches to find a better way of delivering projects to achieve the outcomes needed for a net zero built environment.

Improving certainty for better outcomes
The practical use of technology is no longer an optional benefit, but a necessity. Tried and tested methodology, coupled with directly employed Digital Implementation Managers, produces better outcomes every time.
Digital Construction enables the generation and management of information on a construction project during its entire life cycle to create digital and built assets. Digital Construction is an evolution of Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Using augmented, virtual and digital reality technologies, our BIM Implementation Managers are helping customers produce results through three key phases:
Design | Visualising your building before we've even broken ground, helping you experience it and eradicate risks early
Build | BIM technologies providing everyone access to rich information which improves certainty
Operate | Delivering a physical and digital building, enabling you to operate and maintain your building
Exceptional customer experiences, sustainable innovations and timely delivery are only ensure by working with the best supply chain business in the industry.
This ranges from strategic national suppliers to local experts and SME's that deliver in the communities they are based.
Every year we hold a Group-wide supply chain engagement event at Silverstone, as well as numerous meet the buyer events so that every business is updated on our business plan and target areas. At the end of the year our annual Supply Chain Awards celebrate the very best from each of our regions.
Our supply chain partnership
By continually reviewing the tiers within our supply chain in line with their performance, we are able to deliver the best service for customers during pre-construction, construction and aftercare stages.
