Brighton Police Station | £14m Police & Crime Commissioner for Sussex
Major refurbishment works and new build extensions of Brighton Police Station were carried out over 5 phases, enabling the Station to remain fully operational at all times.
Two new modern extensions were constructed. The first was a new five storey central 'HUB' extensions to the rear of the building. This provided greatly improved access routes between the various wings of the existing building, as well as providing two new passenger lifts, toilet facilities and kitchenettes. The second extension was a new front entrance structure which provided a large, secure atrium public waiting space and front desk area.
Further to the above, a complete internal refurbishment to every floor of the building was completed, changing the existing work areas from multiple, small individual offices into large open plan work spaces with new modern meeting rooms and admin offices.
Newhaven Fire Station | £3.1 m East Sussex County Council
New build three storey Community Fire Station with associated office and reception space for East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFR). Lewes District Council (LDC) and Sussex Police (SP).
The main challenge we faced was the multiple client stakeholders. Due to ESFR, LDC and SP to be located within the new building, client coordination was quickly identified as a key risk to the success of the project. During design team meetings we coordinated all three employers requirements and expectations, this early engagement provided the clients confidence our design met their individual needs whilst also reduced risk to the project costs and programme.
