Satvir Kaur MP VisitA look back at 2024
In October 2024, Satvir Kaur, MP for Southampton Test (and former leader of Southampton City Council), visited Redbridge Community School to learn more about the partnership.
Four years into the original five-year commitment, Satvir returned to her stomping ground to speak to Cliff Kinch (Area Director, Morgan Sindall), Chris Green (Redbridge Community School) and two of the first students through the programme, who now find themselves securing apprenticeship placements locally.
Rhys and Harrison are just two of the students who have featured from day one and joined us at the school to share their stories with Satvir, and meet the newest cohort of students embarking upon the same journey.

A huge thank you to Morgan Sindall for stepping up and saying we want to be part of communities like this, and transforming the lives of so many children I've just spoken to.
Rhys Furse joined the education partnership programme in its first year and returned to the college to share his journey with Morgan Sindall and how that has helped him secure an apprenticeship with our supply chain partner Ridon Joinery:
Being on this programme meant I had a taste of every trade, and I fell in love with woodwork. With Morgan Sindall leading it, it gave me confidence that when I leave college I had a gateway of walking into and they really engaged with what you do, so it does gives me a great world of energy!
Harrison Page also returned to chat with Satvir and shared his journey, which included changing his pathway from electrics, to overall site management, which he will go on to University to study, supported by Morgan Sindall:
It's very beneficial, because if it wasn't for opportunities like this, a lot of people otherwise wouldn't get the support and guidance they need. With Morgan Sindall I had the guidance and opportunity and expand into the broader range of construction. It's been really helpful for me.
To see the ex-students come back today with real opportunity and to hear what they're saying is just incredible. What Morgan Sindall are doing here is outstanding. The proof is in the pudding that our students are now onto apprenticeships and employment - but it's win-win - its about giving the industry what the education system should be providing; work ready individuals, passionate about contributing to society.
The partnership has been so successful, that Southampton City Council are looking to develop it across a wider range of subject areas and industries - hoping to use this partnership as a blueprint for success.
As the programme continues through 2024 and into 2025, there is already a jam packed programme of classroom and site based activities planned for the students.
As a local employer invested locally, we identified Redbridge as an area we could make a positive impact. Our staff and our supply chain have been delivering a vocationally and nationally recognised curriculum to create a range of opportunities for a broad spectrum of young people. These young people want to to improve and feel like they re giving something back.
