Morgan Sindall Construction is a UK business with a network of local offices.

Project capabilities cover the entire range of construction activities, from special works and repair and maintenance, to major landmark schemes delivered as standalone projects or as part of larger multiple project frameworks. The company operates across the public and private sectors to deliver the social infrastructure around us – from schools, universities and hospitals to retail, office and leisure environments.

Morgan Sindall Construction is part of Morgan Sindall Group plc, a leading UK construction and regeneration group with revenue of £4 billion and which operates through six divisions of Construction & Infrastructure, Fit Out, Property Services, Partnership Housing, Urban Regeneration and Investments.

Tim Clement is Director of Social Value & Sustainability, where he empowers internal and external stakeholders to enhance communities and to responsibly deliver low carbon, resource efficient and nature-rich built assets. With a background in design management, he studied Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment at the University of Cambridge, with a focus on the empirical and sociological aspects of the whole life carbon footprint of buildings. He also created CarboniCa, the innovative and award-winning whole life carbon reduction tool for the built environment. In the 2022 Construction News Awards he was ‘highly commended’ as a carbon reduction champion.

Chris MacDonald starting with the Circular Twin in 2021, Chris has directed a suite of R&D projects for Morgan Sindall Construction focussed on exploring new behaviours, technologies and best-practises in the pursuit of lower carbon construction and sustainable nature-based outcomes. Together with his friendly, inclusive and purpose-driven management style, Chris applied his advanced studies in Real Estate Economics from the University of Cambridge to the Regenerative Twin to ensure its recommendations are financially accessible through invaluable collaboration with the supply chain.

Hattie Fisher works as a Sustainability Analyst in Morgan Sindall Construction's central Social Value & Sustainability team. She is a chartered Research Surveyor and is responsible for assisting in the delivery of several R&D projects, including acting as 'Carbon Lead' for the Regenerative Twin and project managing other Innovate UK funded projects. Hattie focuses on carbon, nature and retrofit.

Gary Newman is the Chief Executive of Woodknowledge Wales and co-founder and Chair of the Alliance for Sustainable Building Products (ASBP). Gary is a construction engineer by training and after completing a wood science masters, Gary spent a formative few years at the at the BioComposites Centre in Bangor as a researcher where he became inspired by the technical possibilities of plant-based materials. For 20 years Gary was responsible for developing and manufacturing a range of bio-products including horticultural and automotive nonwovens, hemp particleboard and hemp fibre insulation.

Philip Watson is Chair and Head of Design at HLM Architects. An award-winning designer, he has a broad range of experience and expertise, particularly in the education sector. He has led a variety of research initiatives on topics such as MMC, digital design, social value, and environmental sustainability. He has developed a number of digital tools that help designers make better informed decisions around aspects of the built environment that impact on people’s health and wellbeing. He has taught at several schools of architecture and design and has been Visiting Professor at the University of Leeds since 2018. Philip is an active member of the Higher Education Design Quality Forum Research Group and was elected a Fellow of the RIBA in 2020 in recognition of his contribution to architecture and the arts.

Zarja Krevelj has been an architectural technologist with HLM Architects for the last three years, where she specialises in embodied carbon and mass timber. Her role involves developing and implementing a companywide strategy to address embodied carbon. In her career, Zarja has engaged in various research and development projects centred around sustainability and wellbeing. On the Regenerative Twin project, Zarja has helped with scoring matrix and contributed to research and development of regenerative solutions in terms of materials. She also developed the detailing around the designs.

In recent years, Cundall has confirmed its place as the leaders on sustainability, health and wellbeing and net zero carbon in the education sector across the globe. In September 2020 they were confirmed as the world’s first carbon neutral consultancy, by the Carbon Trust.

Alex Carter is a Partner at Cundall and an advocate of decarbonising buildings through material selection and efficient structural design. R&D work over the past few years has focused on how increased dialogue across the full construction supply chain can improved sustainability outcomes. His portfolio of projects covers major projects, large scale regeneration and initiatives to improve the facilities and training within the local community. On the Regenerative Twin project Alex used his passion for engaging with supply chains and his understanding of the application of regenerative principles within communities to drive an optimal structural design solution.

Ben Murphy is an early-career structural engineer with a strong appetite for sustainable design. Specialising in low embodied carbon technologies and materials, he is committed to advancing environmentally conscious practices within construction. With a focus on emerging innovations, Ben aims to drive change and promote regenerative values by sharing knowledge and contributing to the industry's shift toward a more responsible future. This journey has been a great way to explore the possibilities ahead of the curve, and their accessibility within the realms of a typical project.
