Why is it important to me?

What is BIM?

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a digital process that creates and manages information across a building’s lifecycle.

BIM takes a collaborative approach to construction, ensuring the right information reaches the right people at the right time.

We need to start with the end in mind. Over a typical lifecycle, around 80% of a building’s total cost is tied up in its operation, running and maintenance.

By integrating Digital Construction methods early in the Design and Build stages, we can significantly influence and reduce long‑term operational costs.

What is Asset Data?

Asset data, sometimes referred to as COBie (Construction Operations Building Information Exchange), is a standard that provides a structured method for managing and delivering asset information in the construction and facility management sectors.

This COBie data is then assigned to the elements within the 3D mode to provide a further level of clarity, insight and dimension.

These elements typically include fixed, maintainable building components such as building services, lighting, doors, and windows, ensuring accurate information for operations and future maintenance.

Asset Data typically includes:

Identification Information (Name, Type, Serial Number, Model Number)
Location Information (Coordinates within the building or site)
Performance Data (Energy consumption, efficiency ratings)
Maintenance & Lifecycle Data (Warranty details, service schedules, expected lifespan)
Manufacturer & Supplier Details (Brand, contact information, specifications)
