**Foreword and highlights **
from Cara Henderson, Framework Director at Morgan Sindall Construction
Four years since our appointment to the SCAPE Scotland Construction Framework, we’ve helped numerous clients unlock the benefits of SCAPE's accelerated delivery and early contractor engagement model.
From civic buildings to education and regeneration, we’ve supported successful outcomes across a growing geography and expanding range of sectors. Clients value the framework’s transparency, flexibility, and ability to deliver real social and environmental value.
With every project, we continue to demonstrate how SCAPE enables smarter procurement, stronger partnerships, and better places - whatever the scale or scope.
It’s been an exciting journey to date - here are just a few of my personal highlights of our time on the framework…
SCAPE has proven time and again to deliver faster, smarter projects with real added value.
Our delivery of Ardrossan Community Campus for North Ayrshire Council has made history by deploying the UK’s first fully battery-powered pile driving rig - delivering zero local CO₂ emissions and quieter operation. Combined with repurposed tubular steel piles and an electric forklift, the project achieved a staggering carbon saving of 1,622 tonnes of CO₂ - a figure verified by our in-house carbon calculator, CarboniCa. This milestone sets a new benchmark for sustainable construction and reinforces the team’s commitment to net-zero delivery.
In 2023, more than 200 young people from across Scotland attended a 2-day work taster event organised by Morgan Sindall and SCAPE Scotland.
Developed by the SCAPE Scotland Community Legacy Group, and supported by SCAPE's delivery partners, the event showcased the full breadth of job roles in the construction industry and encouraged students to consider a career in the built environment.Students reported an improvement to their teamwork and communications skills as a result of the event, while 97% of students said they would recommend the event to friends and family - a real testament to the value it offered students.
We aimed to inform and inspire young people to consider careers in the built environment. Hopefully they left with a better understanding of construction and the exciting opportunities it offers.”
Gary Meehan, Head of Frameworks at SCAPE Scotland
As part of the successfully refurbished four fire stations across Scotland, we were able to support Scottish Fire and Rescue implement its new, pioneering station design.
Believed to be the first of its kind for the service, the design introduces dedicated cleaning and decontamination zones, allowing firefighters to remove toxic fire effluents before entering ‘clean’ areas.
This forward-thinking approach enhances crew safety and wellbeing, and sets a new benchmark for modern, health-conscious emergency service infrastructure.

By leveraging Morgan Sindall's position on the SCAPE Scotland framework, Fife Council was able to directly engage with Lovell Partnerships - a Morgan Sindall Group company - to deliver 250 high-quality social homes across 9 sites.
This initiative marks a major investment in affordable housing and directly supports the council’s ambitious target to build 1,250 new social homes over the next five years.
Currently in pre-construction, the developments will include wheelchair-accessible homes, spacious family residences, and properties tailored for older residents, reflecting a commitment to inclusive, community-focused design.
"We are committed to providing quality housing that meets the diverse needs of the people living in our communities, and working with esteemed partners such as Lovell reinforces our dedication to delivering on our promise to build high-quality, much-needed homes across the region.” – Andy Saum, Programme Manager at Fife Council
Building on a strong relationship from the 2023 World of Work Tasters event, pupils from Lenzie Academy visited our live construction sites at Lennoxtown and Twechar, gaining insight into industry roles and career paths.
A tailored ‘Introduction to Construction’ programme followed, which consisted of monthly workshops on key trades and culminated in CV development and career guidance. From this, one pupil has already secured a pre-apprenticeship, highlighting the programme’s real-world impact.
Delivered in partnership with East Dunbartonshire Council, the initiative deepened students’ understanding, boosted confidence, and reinforced the council's commitment to inspiring future talent.
Kirstin McDonald, Teacher at Lenzie Academy, said: "Morgan Sindall has gone above and beyond to give our students practical exposure, expert guidance, and an insight into real-world construction projects.”
