COPFS Office Low Carbon Retrofit, Elgin | £2.2mCrown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service
As part of COPFS' ambitious plans to become carbon neutral by 2040, Morgan Sindall recently completed extensive decarbonisation works to its offices in Elgin.
Originally built in 1860, the the four-storey building has undergone a complete transformation to help enhance its thermal performance, reduce energy costs, and to create a quieter, more comfortable working environment.
Features include triple glazed windows, high-performance insulation, an air source heat pump and PV panels. An off-site storage yard, rented offices in the town, and constant communication with local residents helped the site team to successfully overcome the numerous challenges of delivering a project within a congested town centre.

Programme of Works at Raigmore Hospital | £1.8mNHS Highland
Morgan Sindall delivered a series of targeted upgrades at Raigmore Hospital, improving clinical spaces and infrastructure through a £1.8m programme of works.
The works included refurbishing the hospital’s Outpatient Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT) facilities and converting space into a medical training suite with simulation rooms and observation areas. Capacity at the decontamination unit was increased by constructing a new insulated enclosure and reconfiguring internal layouts, while a high-voltage cable was installed to ensure emergency power in case of an outage. Delivered in a live hospital environment, the programme required careful coordination with estates and clinical teams to minimise disruptions and maintain 24/7 operations.
Work was carried out in a well arranged, orderly and tidy manner. Communication was exceptional with NHS Highland involved appropriately and consistently in an efficient and approachable manner.”

Duff House Plantroom, Banff | £1.1mHistoric Environment Scotland (HES)
Helping to protect numerous art collections and rare library volumes displayed at Duff House, a new prefabricated sprinkler plantroom was installed within the grounds of the country house.
The original plantroom was located underground, where it was prone to flooding and required full confined space access, including harnesses, air monitoring, and standby personnel. To address these challenges, a new plantroom was installed 20 metres from Duff House using two repurposed, off-site cladded shipping containers placed on a raised concrete floor. Additional works included installing a gabion wall, electric kiosk, and sewage pump, while close coordination with HES ensured the house remained fully open, with disruptive works scheduled on days closed to the public.

Lennoxtown High Park, Campsie | £4.3mEast Dunbartonshire Council
The new facility at Lennoxtown High Park has transformed an under-used sports field into a new, state of the art all-weather sports pitch for local clubs to utilise.
The original grass playing fields have been replaced by a single 3G astroturf pitch which can be used throughout the year. The existing single storey pavilion has been extended to increase capacity and now boasts two new changing rooms, in addition to the original two, as well as toilet and shower facilities and an equipment store. Other improvements to the site include drainage and ground retention works - in order to alleviate issues with standing surface water - and floodlighting to the pitch. Spectator standing areas have also been included as well as additional parking and associated lighting.
It has been a long-held plan to have a sports facility such as this in the area and it looks fantastic. This community asset, which has been delivered on budget, represents a major capital investment in the village and I know that it will be well-used by local clubs."

Kilpatrick Learning Village, Glasgow | £347kWest Dunbartonshire Council
Such was the demand for places at Kilpatrick ASN, a Modular Learning Village was installed while the design and construction phases of a permanent extension took place.
Manufactured off-site, the two single-storey building immediately provided the school with an additional four classrooms, two toilets and two storerooms. As well as providing a safe and comfortable learning environment for children with additional support needs, it also allowed the school to better utilise its existing spaces and workshops. With work taking place in a live environment, logistical planning was paramount to ensure the safety of students and prevent disruption to the school. To aid this, deliveries were planned around the school’s busy timetable, while the installation of the modular units took place over a weekend.
I’m exceptionally proud to be delivering a project in the town I was born and raised. For me, it's not just a project, it’s about giving back to the place that has given me so much. I’m excited to see the positive impact this will have for our community, and hope it’s the first of many."

Chambers St Crown Office | £9.2mCrown Office Procurator Fiscal Service
Work on the low-carbon refurbishment of the historic COPFS Crown Court is well underway, following the successful delivery of similar works at the COPFS offices in Elgin.
Supporting COPFS’ 2040 net-zero target, the works will enhance the thermal performance of the building, reducing energy use through triple glazing, high-performance insulation, LED lighting and efficient M&E services.
During pre-construction, a saving of 18 tonnes of embodied carbon was achieved by opting to retain the original window housings and reglaze them offsite with high-performance Fino glass. This approach not only preserved the building’s historic character but also reduced material waste and site disruption.
Morgan Sindall’s teamwork and collaboration skills -particularly the ability to find common ground - have made a significant, positive impact on the project’s dynamic and productivity. Our staff at COPFS consistently praise your professionalism and helpfulness."
