Delivering social value to delight our customers and continually improve our performance
Throughout this project, we will be supporting Thorp Academy's Vision and Values and have developed a social value plan to ensure we:
Offer workplace skills and practical activities. - Offering 4 students who are interested in construction, a programme where they attend site for a half a day workshop every fortnight. A site campus will be set up and different subcontractors will demonstrate skills and talk about careers in construction and entry routes into the industry.
Put young people at the heart of developing the school and community social value activities - Through Thorp Academy's Inspire Me! Programme, our team will support students to deliver £3000 worth of local community projects.
Support Thorp Academy to have a positive effect on neighbouring school and communities - A pledge of 40 hours volunteering time has been made. We love a nature based wellbeing project and will be scoping our opportunities in time for the next newsletter.
Being ‘instinctively Inclusive’ is a priority at MSC:
2 x 1 hour sessions with 6 attendees on site in a lunch and learn format. The first session will be around how to encourage and support diversity and inclusion in the construction environment.
We will offer 2 x mental health first aider courses to our supply chain and make businesses without a current mental health first aider the priority.
We will offer access to our MSC Employee Assistance Programme, which is a wide range of mental health, debt advice and healthy living to all that ‘touch’ the project. We will promote healthy lifestyles through our tool box talks on these issues and engage with the Lighthouse Charity and opening up our Nurse Health Check appointments to the supply chain and school staff.
Invitations to visit site will be extended to Thorp Academy students, teachers, staff and parents and schools in the wider areas. We will accommodate visits from support organisations and supporting disadvantaged groups into work.
