**BEYONDTHE BUILD**
Delivering social value investment now and in the future
Delivering social value investment is a key part of any development.
The Howard Group, in partnership with TrAc, have set up a scheme in Cambridge called FutureIN.
This scheme provides vulnerable people, homeless or those at risk of homelessness, an opportunity to qualify as an apprentice.
So far on Unity Campus, there have been five FutureIN apprentices working across the supply chain and directly with Morgan Sindall, who are now learning new skills and working towards an apprenticeship qualification.

I'm really enjoying it as it's hands on learning. I love being part of this. It has literally changed my life. I was on Universal Credit, a bit lost I;d say and now I have a four year plann and a career ahead of me for life. I feel like i'm in the best hands.
In addition to the FutureIN apprentices, there are also five additional apprentices on site, all of which have contributed to 96 weeks of apprenticeship training on site (to the end of February 2023).
Commencing in June 2023, the team will be using the Knowledge Quad to deliver a project based work experience week to 18 local year 10 Students from Sawston Village College.
So far the team has donated 18 volunteer hours and engaged 87 students through STEM based activities such as joining the Howard Group at Sawston Village college to spend a day conducting mock interviews and career mentoring for the students.
There's still lots more to come…
The Knowledge Quad on site is being used to deliver school engagements and is also available to use, for free, by local community groups
The social value investment here has been truly admirable. The community they've got going here is the strongest I've seen. It's bringing people together, there's a real buzz about the campus, and it shows.
