**Social Value Highlights**
We promise to plan for, deliver and measure the social value investment our project creates.
At the onset, we collaboratively developed a Social Value Charter alongside Sandwell MBC (shown overleaf). This has established a set of KPIs which we are using to measure ourselves against and ultimately drive benefit beyond the boundaries of this site.
The social value we create is monetised through Morgan Sindall Group's Social Value Bank, evidencing our outcomes in line with the HM Treasury Green Book and wider OECD guidelines.
Whilst social value monetisation is great, we also want to tell the human story. We have therefore showcased some of the projects' social value initiatives overleaf. We will continue to add to these highlights as the project progresses.

Delivering social value investment is a key part of our commitments here. Right from the start we developed a set of KPIs which we are using to measure ourselves against and ultimately drive benefit beyond the boundaries of this site.
In October, we supported the launch of the Team KPG 546 challenge, where the team will be walking, running, swimming or cycling 546 miles to remember the number of people who died by suicide in the West Midlands during 2022.“We were grateful to Brian and Andy, as long term supporters of KPG, for knocking off a few miles to help us get started and kindly providing the logo board behind the bike. Thank You!” Calum Nisbet,CEO, The Kaleidoscope Plus GroupIf you could spare £10 to sponsor the team, please follow this link: https://lnkd.in/eWWwRPbB
We were delighted to provide 6 Sandwell residents with the opportunity to gain a CSCS card and complete work experience with us on site. Working in collaboration with the Sandwell Council Employment Team, an information session was held at the YMCA in West Bromwich, showcasing the opportunity for interested residents. 6 people then signed up to take part, joining us on site for a week in August. This included spending time working with our Stone Masons, Roofers, Decorators and Window Installers.
In addition to the work experience, we also sponsored £1,850 to fund the candidates 1 day CITB H&S Awareness Course and qualification, as well as their CSCS Card H&S registration and test. All of the candidates passed their H&S Awareness course, and we're now waiting to hear on their CSCS results. To complete the week, Randstad joined us on site to register the candidates on the Morgan Sindall Labour Desk. Great work all!
Our team got stuck into some volunteering work at Goldicroft Park in Wednesbury - preparing wildflower areas, erecting fences, litter picking, and creating some habitat structures! We'll be back in August to complete the planting works.
This project was completed as part of Morgan Sindall Construction’s partnership with Groundwork - a charity that mobilises practical action on poverty and the environment across the UK. Massive thanks to our supply chain partners Jack Moody Group and Caxton Group for supporting this event, we couldn’t have done it without you!
Our West Bromwich Town Hall & Library project team hosted a Black Country Day celebration at the Town Hall in July.
The event celebrated the rich cultural heritage, fascinating history, and continuous evolution of the Black Country region. Attendees enjoyed a performance by Me Dance Company, tucked into great food from The Catchy Fish, listened to local music from Aphrodite Springs and browsed stalls from local charities and vendors, including The Kaleidoscope Plus Group and Centre Spot CIC. The day was also enriched by a talk about the importance of Black Country Day in West Bromwich.
Click the video to the left to see Jay, an Apprentice from our roofing subcontractor, NRA Roofing, putting his skills to great use on the Town Hall!
We are delighted to have six T Level students from Sandwell College with us on site for some extensive work experience within May/June.
Three of the students are studying painting and decorating, and the other three are studying plastering.
The students have worked closely with our subcontractor, Henley Projects on the sash windows and plastering to the new curators office. Excellent work all!
We are also supporting Centre Spot CIC, another of the existing West Bromwich Town Hall tenants with £1,000 of funding which will be used to purchase new kits for their CS Colts Under 9's teams and help fund their mentors/coaches that supply training and courses to local children.
Centre Spot CIC is a social enterprise that uses sports and physical activity to engage and build capacities of people, particularly young people. Centre Spot seeks to encourage the uptake of physical activity, and improve the physical well-being of communities.
CS Colts was formed at the request of parents who wanted their children to play for a club that offered a safe and fun environment, as well as having the benefit of being coached by highly experience coaches. Watch this space for more updates!
In June, Shuaib, a local work experience student from Queen Mary's High School joined us for a 1-week work experience in conjunction with Sandwell Visually Impaired (SVI) to create a piece for the Sandwell Talking News.
SVI, who are one of the existing West Bromwich Town Hall tenants is managed and run by blind and visually impaired people. Their mission is to improve the lives of people with sight loss in Sandwell and they give information and support to anyone in Sandwell with an interest in visual impairment. Their services enable visually impaired people to be as independent as possible.
We also hosted Bisma on site in June, a second-year BA Architecture student from Birmingham City University who was completing a two-week work experience placement with Apec Architects, our architect for the scheme.
In addition to spending time with us on site, she has also had the opportunity with Apec to learn Vectorworks, draw floor plans from point clouds, fill in door and window schedules and much more.
Bisma is also a regional finalist for the Women In Property National Student Award in June. Best of luck Bisma!
Massive thanks to Randstad who visited us on site to help highlight the significance of single-use plastics to the environment by handing out reusable drinks bottles and mugs to our subcontractors working on the project.Single-use plastics contribute significantly to environmental pollution. They pose a grave threat to marine life and ecosystems. Annually, millions of tons of plastic enter oceans, contaminating waterways and harming wildlife. To combat this crisis, we must start by reducing single-use plastic consumption and promoting sustainable alternatives.
