Ballater Station, Aberdeenshire | £3.4mAberdeenshire Council
After suffering fire damage in 2015, Morgan Sindall Construction were appointed to undertake the complete reconstruction of the building.
With the site bounded by residential housing and commercial premises, careful logistics management and community engagement was vital.
The listed building also required careful attention to detail, ensuring it could be restored to its former glory. By working closely with the supply chain, we were able to source 90% of all the materials needed from within one hour of the site location.
The rejuvenated attraction features a restaurant (run by the Duke of Rothesay’s charitable trust), a tourist centre, and a library.
You have created a building that you should be justifiably proud of. You have also become part of our community, been courteous and helpful whenever you've interacted with the village and you have a team to be proud of.

Excellent logistics and stakeholder management was critical in this tri-phased project.
The work was planned really well, with the safety of the pupils, staff and our local community in mind. We've really enjoyed working with Morgan Sindall and we're looking forward to making the most of our fabulous new campuses.

The team also held an event at the local job centre and as a result helped eight people secure employment.
Highfields is a magic place already, the building is beautiful. The education design is so well considered and the space lends itself to be such a positive space. It had a great team and they did everything possible to make sure I was involved. We're so proud of it here.
