Inverness Fire Station (Phase 2), Inverness | £1.85mScottish Fire & Rescue Service
Morgan Sindall was recently appointed to refurbish the dignified facilities at Inverness Fire Station after successfully delivering its emergency services facilities in 2022.
The new design – believed to be the first of its kind to be carried out on behalf of Scottish Fire and Rescue – featured designated cleaning and decontamination zones for firefighters to fully remove harmful fire contaminants before entering a ‘clean’ zone. Additional facilities included changing rooms, shower and wash areas, and PPE/clothing storage spaces. Keen to minimise disruption to the fire station, the work was sequenced with the crew deployed periodically. Modular temporary facilities were also installed to ensure the station remained fully operational while works took place.

Raigmore OPAT/Medical Training, Inverness | £345kNHS Highland
Forming part of programme of works at Raigmore Hospital, Morgan Sindall upgraded the Outpatient Antibiotic Treatment (OPAT) facilities and converted existing accommodation into a medical education training room.
The OPAT works involved the partial strip-out of the area to shell and core and refurbished to finished detail. Spanning the main hospital corridor, this comprised of a six-bed treatment room and disabled toilet on one side of the corridor with associated office and store located opposite. The medical education suite also comprised a complete strip-out, reconfiguration and refurbishment to create a classroom/office-suite and simulation treatment rooms with an observation area. With works taking place in a live environment with 24/7 operation and services, continuity was critical.
The team were always available and approachable to ensure that the project ran smoothly with no disruption to the adjacent live wards. The project was completed on the agreed dates and the overall finish is of a higher standard than we have experienced with other contractors.

Decontamination Unit (SSD), Inverness | £1.1mNHS Highland
Following the successful delivery of OPAT/Medical Rooms at Raigmore Hospital, Morgan Sindall was appointed to increase the capacity of its decontamination unit for the National Treatment Centre.
The works consisted of constructing a lightweight insulated enclosure, providing segregation for clean and dirty medical instruments to the front of the building. The installation of a modular building also helped increase the washroom area with connections to existing window and fire exit openings.
An existing reception area was reconfigured to provide staff changing rooms which featured lockers, benches, mirrors and coat hooks. An existing shower room was also converted into a toilet.
It has been a good experience and we have already engaged Morgan Sindall Construction to undertake other projects on the estate on the back of how this and other projects were delivered.

Lennoxtown High Park, Campsie | £4.3mEast Dunbartonshire Council
The new facility at Lennoxtown High Park has transformed an under-used sports field into a new, state of the art all-weather sports pitch for local clubs to utilise.
The original grass playing fields have been replaced by a single 3G astroturf pitch which can be used throughout the year. The existing single storey pavilion has been extended to increase capacity and now boasts two new changing rooms, in addition to the original two, as well as toilet and shower facilities and an equipment store. Other improvements to the site include drainage and ground retention works - in order to alleviate issues with standing surface water - and floodlighting to the pitch. Spectator standing areas have also been included as well as additional parking and associated lighting.
It has been a long-held plan to have a sports facility such as this in the area and it looks fantastic. This community asset, which has been delivered on budget, represents a major capital investment in the village and I know that it will be well-used by local clubs.

Kilpatrick Modular Learning Village, Glasgow | £347kWest Dunbartonshire Council
Such was the demand for places at Kilpatrick ASN, a Modular Learning Village was installed while the design and construction phases of a permanent extension took place.
Manufactured off-site, the two single-storey buildings immediately provided the school with an additional four classrooms, two toilets and two storerooms. As well as providing a safe and comfortable learning environment for children with additional support needs, it also allowed the school to better utilise its existing spaces and workshops. With work taking place in a live environment, logistical planning was paramount to ensure the safety of students and prevent disruption to the school. To aid this, deliveries were planned around the school’s busy timetable, while the installation of the modular units using a crane took place over a weekend.
I'm exceptionally proud to be delivering a project in the town I was born and raised. For me, it's not just a project, it’s about giving back to the place that has given me so much. I’m excited to see the positive impact this will have for our community, and hope it's the first of many.
