How the project team have utilised intelligent digital tools to communicate and solve any issues at the design stage as well as creating an open approach throughout the course of the project.
The project team have been utilising BIMBox as the Information Manager for the whole development and in doing so, it has provided invaluable data that has enhanced decision-making and created tangible benefits.
Reviews of the digital models at defined milestones have informed collaborative improvements and connectivity adjustments between disciplines. Throughout the project, this has quickly and clearly communicated any potential issues before they could occur on-site.
With the structural steel frame benefitting from development within the Tekla software platform, a bespoke workflow was developed to improve interoperability with disciplines using Autodesk software. This ensured an effective export process from IFC, an open format, was in use to produce Revit and Navisworks readable files, readily available for frequent coordination across the wider project team.
Guided by an Asset Information Delivery Plan (AIDP), data requirements have been clearly defined and are being delivered in a structured and manageable way. BIMBox has undertaken Quality Assurance Reporting (QAR) – which includes routine reviews of the main models’ geometry and data – alongside clash detection verification activities, to support the team in remaining on course with best practice digital development.
This has provided confidence to the key stakeholders throughout the progression of the project, with technical support sessions with the supply chain rapidly delivered by BIMBox when opportunities to improve the digital construction strategy were identified, in light of project complexities.
Overall, utilising Intelligent digital tools has supported an open approach across the team and has ensured the two new office buildings for Wirral Growth Company have been proactively designed and delivered with constructive digital strategies adopted at every step.
